Bassmaster Champion and ESPN2 television host Davy Hite knows a thing or two about fishing and fatherhood. When not on the water or on the airwaves, he is husband to Natalie and father to sons Parker and Peyton. He also serves as a member of our Board of Trustees.
To bring awareness to our mission and the importance of quality time between dads and their children, Davy will host the 2nd annual The Reel Connection – a day-long fishing excursion for one father and child on one of South Carolina's beautiful freshwater lakes.
Take a moment to learn more about our mission, and how to enter a drawing for the Reel Connection - the ultimate fatherhood fishing experience.
The Reel Connection fishing experience is a unique day-long father-child fishing trip with Bassmaster Davy Hite designed to promote the importance of dads spending quality time with their children.
A randomly selected father and child will join Davy on his boat for a morning excursion to spots where the big ones bite. After a lakeside lunch, afternoon fishing continues with casting, conversation and a few classic fish tales courtesy of Mr. Hite.
Quality time spent between a father and a child is invaluable. Even simple activities – like a day of fishing – can create memorable moments that shape a child’s future.
Our fatherhood programs help fathers build rewarding relationships with their children. When fathers are present, children thrive, families grow strong and communities prosper.
Father absence can be linked to most societal ills, including child poverty, substance abuse and teen pregnancy. Too many children grow up without knowing the love and support of their father. We work every day to change the statistics for children in South Carolina.
With your support, we can continue our mission to provide the means for fathers to become great dads.Donate
In 2002, the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families was created to reduce child poverty through father engagement. Today, it is the hub of a statewide network of fatherhood programs providing education, resources and guidance for thousands of fathers and their families.
A ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, the Center is the longest running father-focused program in South Carolina.
Through partnerships and generous community support, the Center continues to expand access to programs that are changing lives for fathers and families in our state.Donate
In 2016, he became cohost and analyst for “Bassmaster LIVE” and “The Bassmasters” television show on ESPN2. Davy’s dream to become a competitive fisherman began as a young boy paddling the waters of Lake Murray, SC. He was raised in a small Saluda County cottage by his grandparents who provided the love, support and lake access he needed to dream big. Today, those humble beginnings ground Hite’s accomplishments and his status as a nationally recognized sports personality. Television shows, seminars, trade show appearances, radio shows, webcasts and podcasts make for a busy schedule, but Davy always finds time to give back to his community. Hite serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families. He and his wife Natalie live in Ninety Six, SC. They have two sons, Parker and Peyton.
